Aaliyah Haughton made headlines in 1994 when she released her first album Age isn't just the number. It was Gold when she was fifteen years old. This collaboration was heavily influenced by R. Kelly, and helped put her on the map. In 1996, she released her second album One In A Million with Jermaine dupri and Timbaland. The album contained the hit number one single If Your girl only knew. Following the debut of the album Aaliyah gained international attention for her performance as an R&B singer. She was a part of the action and romance movie Romeo Must Die alongside martial artist Jet-Li. Joel Silver, the film producer, saw her during the awards ceremony and kindly offered her this part. Queen of the Damned was her first film role in 2002. It is based off an Anne Rice novel. The year 2003 saw her appeared as a character in The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. She was nominated four times for the Grammy Awards, including 2001, 1999 and 2002. Her birthplace was in Connecticut to a family of Indian heritage. Mann, her stage name is an acronym for Mankad which is her name as a married surname. The actress uses Aarti Man as well as Aarti Mahumdar as her professional name. While her initial career was dominated by minor movie and TV performances, she rose to greater prominence in the mid-2000s. The actress has also been featured in Leverage, Suits, Grey's Anatomy and Grey's Anatomy. She has also been featured in advertisements for major companies like the international auto manufacturer Volvo. She lives at Los Angeles along with her wife, son and daughter. She also pursues her acting career.
